Trip to Portsmouth University

Posted on: 24/02/2023

Image 1Year 12 CTEC Media and Business students were kindly invited to visit Portsmouth University where they were given a personal tour of all the local area, university buildings and facilities. Students were able to get a feel of what it was like to sit in a lecture hall and learn about the difference in expectations at 6th Form and University first hand from current university students. Students were given a tour of the Business school which included a ‘Bloomberg suite’ where you could access industry standard Bloomberg terminals to monitor and analyse financial market activity. During our tour of the Media school, one of our students experienced VR technology where he appeared to be transported to different environments designed and created by university students. Overall, it was an amazing experience to be able to see what it would be like to be a university student and all the students were inspired as well as amazed by all the facilities the university has to offer.

Student feedback on the trip:

“I enjoyed visiting the University, it was a first-time experience, so I learnt a lot about the university lifestyle”.

“The staff and current students were very friendly, and they explained everything to us. I really enjoyed being there”.

“One thing that I learnt is that the University’s campus is an open campus in the town with a lot of opportunities for part-time work”.

“I really enjoyed seeing all the different buildings and architecture”.
