Harris Professional Skills Sixth Form - Kinetic Foundation Signing

Posted on: 03/02/2023

Ok

We’re delighted to announce that Harris Professional Skills Sixth Form student Omaru King has signed a contract with Brentford FC. Omaru studied with us through our partnership with Kinetic Foundation and becomes Kinetic’s 67th signing to a professional football club that has been involved in their academy programme.

Corey Holder, Kinetic Academy Coach & Harris Professional Skills Sixth Form Liaison Officer: “From day one, Omaru has showed he was willing to go above and beyond in his football but also for his education. Omaru started with disappointment, not quite getting the grades he needed to go to his school of choice so he came to Harris Professional Skills. He didn’t let that disappointment deter him from what was his final goal as the change in school meant he had to travel 90 minutes, sometimes even two hours to get here. I can count the number of times Omaru was late on one hand and that was only ever down to train strikes, making it pretty much impossible for him to get here but he always found a way. I use Omaru as an example for the rest of the boys on site because if he’s not late and comes to school EVERY DAY then they definitely have no excuse not to. Ultimately, with Omaru’s ability, along with his mindset and approach, it was only a matter of when and not if, a professional club would sign him. Harris Professional Skills Sixth Form have always been supportive with both Omaru’s education and football, allowing him out of school for games as well as being understanding with Omaru’s travel situation”.

Omaru King: "I have been at Kinetic for a year and I have learnt so much in that time while there. I played loads of games against professional club academies, received top coaching and advice from all the coaches in the Kinetic Academy programme. They improved my attacking, defensive ball knowledge and so much more. They really pushed me hard to get the best out of me. Their training sessions are very quick and intense and it made me the better player I am today. I also went on tour with Kinetic to Bath and Scotland where we played against the likes of Southampton, Rangers and St Mirren. Kinetic is a great football programme and they can really bring out the best in players. I’m very grateful to have played and trained under such a successful academy and grateful for every bit of advice I have been given from the coaches. I’d also like to thank Harris Professional Skills Sixth Form for their support and help with my education".
