Today is Safer Internet Day. The Internet has brought significant benefits to our lives but there are also dangers that we as teachers and parents must be aware of to protect our children and students.

Well done to all the Year 13 students who have been completing their UCAS applications over the past few weeks. Thank you to Ms Bhogal, Mr James, Ms Awan and Ms Whyte for all the support given.

Thanks Ms Miles, Director of Harris Federation Sixth Form and Ms Bhogal our Vice Principal for delivering an informative talk to Apollo House on how to apply to Harris Sixth Form schools. If you have any further questions, please contact Ms Ogunseitan or Ms Bhogal.

MS Teams has proved to be a great tool for delivering online teaching. For parents who would like to know more about how it works, here is a very clear guide which can be translated into different languages

The 'Construkt' Programme Delivered by SAY & Wates

I hope you're well! Serious About Youth (SAY) and Lendlease are delivering an exciting free initiative for sixth form students (Years 12 & 13) and unemployed young people aged 18 - 25 years old called, 'Construkt', which is an immersive in-person programme with live opportunities attached, delivered from 25th October - 5th November 2021 to give young people exposure to the wide range of great opportunities in engineering and construction. For this project we are particularly targeting Camden and Islington students and residents, and would like to encourage females to take part.

The 2-week programme will be delivered in-person adhering to appropriate Covid-19 Health & Safety measures and will take participants through the whole life cycle of a construction/engineering project to expose them to the wide range of career pathways in the sector such as project management, design/3D modelling, trade roles, admin roles etc. The programme will model and review the construction processes of the new Google Headquarters being built in Kings Cross (KGX1) and the development of 8 Bishopsgate (live Lendlease projects)During the 2-week programme participants will:

  • Engage and work with construction/engineering professionals from a range of leading industry firms (Lendlease, Laing O'Rourke and more)
  • Undertake Building Information Modelling (BIM) digital design work
  • Deliver a tender presentation to industry professionals
  • 'Construkt' a large-scale timber structure!
  • Network with companies and professionals with opportunities

We will be supporting participants into jobs, apprenticeships, work experience and further education opportunities after the programme and those that want to work on-site and are eligible, can obtain a free CSCS card. We have live opportunities attached to the programme, such as:

  • Support to apply for Wates' 2021/2022 apprenticeship scheme

We have helped over 75% of past 'Construkters' into positive outcomes, so if you have any young people interested in taking part, please get them to complete this online registration form by Wednesday 13th October 2021 -

If you have any questions, please contact Shekhinah Byfield ( or 07310 048 262). Places are limited and in high demand, so please get in touch as soon as possible to secure a place.

We would be happy to organise a group session/assembly, virtually or in-person, with any interested young people you may have to promote 'Construkt' directly to them. I have also attached a flyer about the programme that can be distributed to any young people, contacts or friends/family you have that may be interested in the opportunity.
